MUSIC EXPORT

MUSIC EXPORT PHILOSOPHY AND STRATEGY

  • Symbiotic ecosystems

  • Shared value;

  • Strategic alignment;

  • Public-private partnerships;

  • Private industry as an ecosystem participant;

  • Relationships as infrastructure;

  • Music as a connective asset;

  • Sister-city relationships as strategic pathways;

  • Developing new music-city relationships;

  • Moving from transactions to networks.

VALUE AT THE INTERSECTION

Complex ecosystems are often evaluated by the strength of their individual assets: successful companies, talented musicians, strong cities, international relationships, recognizable destinations and cultural institutions.

But some of the greatest potential value does not exist within any single asset.

It exists in the relationships between them.

A city may have an international relationship that has not yet connected with its music community. A company may operate in international markets without recognizing the cultural relationships that could strengthen its presence there. A tourism organization may seek authentic ways to communicate the identity of a place. A music community may possess relationships and cultural knowledge that can connect people across borders.

Each asset has value independently.

The opportunity is to understand what becomes possible when their interests intersect.

My work is interested in the development of symbiotic ecosystems: environments in which public, private, cultural and international participants recognize their interdependence and develop relationships that create meaningful value for one another.

The objective is not to place one participant at the center.

It is to strengthen the relationships between them.

Music and creativity can be powerful connective forces within this ecosystem.

The central question is not simply how one sector can support another.

It is:

What becomes possible when different sectors recognize where their interests, assets and relationships can create shared value?
